For ViewLux specifically, we prefer OEM parts for balance systems and locking hardware. The specs are tighter, and you don’t gamble with a window that suddenly fails closed on a July afternoon. Signs Your ViewLux Window Installation Is Failing

• The sash won’t stay up, or drops slowly after you raise it. The balance system (spring or block-and-tackle) has lost tension. In Jacksonville’s humidity, the coils inside the balance tube corrode faster than they do in drier climates.
